On the first and third Saturday of each month, join Oxbow Meadows as we take a leisurely and fun-filled hike along our nature trails. During the hike, you will learn more about the wildlife found at Oxbow and how to identify certain plants and trees that are located along the trail. This program is perfect for small groups (like Scout groups) or any other group looking to add some excitement to their Summer!

Turtles, snakes, and alligators... oh my! Get up close and personal with Oxbow's resident reptiles during this program. You will learn about what a reptile is and what kinds of reptiles you may find in your backyard from a live animal presentation. Our Radical Reptile program is perfect for groups of any size! Each program provides a unique opportunity for exploring nature, participating in hands-on activities, and experiencing a live animal presentation. Programs last one hour, but can be extended for up to an additional hour. Program size is limited to 85 people.

Radical Reptiles Program Extensions:
On the second and fourth Saturday of each month, join one of Oxbow's dedicated Master Gardeners and other volunteers as they help "spruce" up our gardens, trails, and animal exhibits. Our gardens and trails will provide students and visitors a unique opportunity to learn about the environment while maintaining and improving some of Columbus' greatest environmental resources. Volunteers will assist with planting, weed removal, trail maintenance, and animal enclosure cleanings. Additional training will be required for volunteers interested in cleaning animal enclosures.

Age Requirements: Volunteers for this program must be at least 5 years old. Children ages 14 and under must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
Form Requirements: Volunteers under the age of 18 must sign a Volunteer Agreement Form and a Release for Minors Form. All volunteers over the age of 18 must sign a Volunteer Release Form. Please see below for links to print these forms. These forms will also be available for pick up at Oxbow Meadows.
Pricing Information: FREE! All of our volunteers will be provided with water while volunteering.
Send your preschoolers on an environmental adventure right here in Columbus, Georgia! Introducing Oxbow's newest educational program: Wildlife Explorers! This program is specially tailored for children ages three to seven. From 9:45 to 11:00am, your children will explore a different environmental theme, complete with nature hikes, craft time, storytelling, songs, games, and other interactive activities! All programs adhere to state educational standards. Class size is limited to 15 children ages three to seven.
Dates: June 4 & June 18 / July 2, July 16, & July 30
Times: 9:45 - 11:00am
Pricing Information: $5 per child / no charge for adults
Come Prepared! Some programs will be conducted in the great outdoors, so please come prepared! Bring proper shoes, sunscreen, bug spray, and water. Strollers should be equipped to travel over unpaved trails.
