Send your preschoolers on an environmental adventure right here in Columbus, Georgia! Introducing Oxbow's newest educational program: Wildlife Explorers! This program is specially tailored for children ages three to seven. On the first Tuesday of every month, from 9:45 to 11:00am, your children will explore a different environmental theme, complete with nature hikes, craft time, storytelling, songs, games, and other interactive activities! All programs adhere to state educational standards. Please see below for individual program descriptions.
Pricing Information: $10 admission for one child and one adult. $5 per additional child or adult; no admission required for infants. At least one adult must be present per three children.
Volunteer Opportunity: Volunteers who are interested in assisting with our Wildlife Explorers Preschool Program are encouraged to contact our Volunteer Coordinator, Patricia Lassiter, at 706-507-8550 or by email at lassiter_patricia1@columbusstate.edu. Responsibilities will include assisting with teaching of the program and developing program materials.
All volunteers must complete a background check, paid for by Oxbow Meadows. Volunteers must be at least 14 years of age. Some exceptions may be made for individuals volunteering with a parent or legal guardian. Come Prepared! Some programs will be conducted in the great outdoors, so please come prepared! Bring proper shoes, sunscreen, bug spray, and water. Strollers should be equipped to travel over unpaved trails.
Home "Tweet" Home: Tuesday, March 5th from 9:45 - 11:00am
Everybody has a home, even birds! Join us at Oxbow as we learn about the homes of birds and other animals. Participants will have the opportunity to explore our nature trails in search of bird nests and other animal "houses", as well as make their very own nest to take home!

Roly Polys and Other Creepy Crawly Critters: April 2nd from 9:45 - 11:00am
Join Oxbow Meadows as we search for roly polys and other insects! After an outdoor exploration, participants will make their own roly poly-inspired craft!

Flower Power: May 7th from 9:45 - 11:00am
Spring is here and that means it's blooming time! Participants will design their own flower pot, plant the seed, and watch it grow from home. Your children will also have the opportunity to explore the outdoors in search of a variety of Oxbow flowers.
