Volunteer at Oxbow!
Volunteering at Oxbow Meadows is both a fun and rewarding experience for everyone! You will learn new skills and meet new people, all while helping Oxbow Meadows fulfill its mission. Whether you are interested in gardens, animals, teaching, or working behind-the-scenes, we have opportunities available for you!
Year-Round Volunteer Opportunities
Year-Round Volunteers must be at least 14 years old to volunteer without a legal guardian present; children between the ages of 12-14 can volunteer at Oxbow Meadows with a legal guardian present. Volunteers looking for a year-round position must fill out an application and the appropriate volunteer waiver (see below for more details). Applications for all positions are accepted on an ongoing basis. Once you have submitted the proper documentation, our Volunteer Coordinator will contact you.

Volunteer education assistants help during field trips with students ages Pre-K to 12th grade. Most of the activities include guiding groups along the Discovery Trail but may also include discussing natural features and resources of the area, identifying native and non-native plants, identifying wildlife signs, and connecting all learning to the state standards. Education volunteers opportunities are only available if there is a field trip; an email will be sent out in advance to interested volunteers. To learn more about our field trips, please visit our Education Page.
All education volunteers must commit to working from 8:30 am - 12:00 pm Monday - Friday.
If you need any additional information about volunteering with our education programs, please contact our Education Program Manager, Lauren Johnson at email@example.com.
All volunteers must complete a volunteer application, personal data form, liability agreement. Adult volunteers must consent to a background check paid for by Columbus State University before volunteering. Youth volunteers must have their parent or legal guardian complete a Minor Volunteer Release Form.
