Explore the World of Beekeeping
Join Oxbow Meadows partners the Chattahoochee Valley Beekeeping Association for workshops designed for all different ages. Learn about he amazing pollinators that we all know and how we can care for them. These workshops are perfect for anyone, whether you have a student interested in exploring the world around them or if you are a life long learner in search of a new experience.
All workshops are held at Oxbow Meadows Environmental Learning Center!
2025 Beekeeping Course
The Spring Beekeeper Course presented by the Chattahoochee Valley Beekeeping Association, hosted by Oxbow Meadows, is a six-week course that will take you from a beginner to a beekeeper! Designed for learners ages 14+.
Dates and Time:
- February 15 - March 22, 2025 (Saturdays)
- 2:00-4:00pm
How much:
- $100 per person
- $50 for immediate family*
Included with Class Fee:
- Classes, textbooks, handouts, one year membership with CVBA
*materials and membership are not included in $50 registration
Ages:
- Open to ages 14 and older.
- All minors must have an adult present and also be registered for the workshop. Minors will not be allowed to participate otherwise.

Jr. Beekeeper Spring Workshops
Presented by the Chattahoochee Valley Beekeeping Association and hosted by Oxbow Meadows, the Jr Beekeeper Spring Workshop is designer for explorers ages 6-13! Discover what it means to be a beekeeper and the wonders of these pollinators in this 1 day workshop.

$35 per child (ages 6-13)
Pre-registration is required for this workshop.
A ticket is entry to the date chosen at checkout only. This workshop is the same each date.
You must have a parent/guardian present during the workshop. There is no charge for parents/guardians. Waivers are required for all participants to turn in the day of the event.
Experienced CVBA beekeepers will teach and oversee the program. Jr. Beekeepers will watch a video, have the opportunity to look at beekeeping equipment, participants in hands-on activity, inspect the beehives, and help extract honey.
Participants are encouraged to bring their own sack lunch to enjoy during the lunch break. It is suggested to bring a water bottle as some of the workshop will be outside in the sun.
All participants will be in the beeyard and in contact with live honey bees.
