The Meadows Nature Journaling Club

The Meadows Nature Journaling Club with Oxbow Meadows was created for Columbus, GA and the surrounding community to connect to nature and life long learning through nature journaling!

The Meadows is open to all ages! As nature journaling is self-directed, this club welcomes individuals, and families of any age. Ages 0-102 are welcome. 
Parents or guardians are required to stay with minors the duration of club meetings.

The Meadows will meet monthly at Oxbow Meadows or a local natural area.
Club time will vary but will average 1hr. See individuals dates for time exceptions.

Club Meetings may include:

  • Activity prompt from club leader
  • Time to complete journal prompt (optional)
  • Self-guided journaling
  • Journaling sharing
  • Community time
  • Giveaways
  • Citizen science participation

Registration is not required but is highly recommended. 
A suggested $5 per person donation is recommended to help fund the future of this club.
We are a non-profit and donations go to support Oxbow Meadows programming.

The Meadows Nature Journaling Club

What is Nature Journaling?

Nature journaling is a method used to connect us with nature where we record observations, ask questions, and make connections using words, pictures, and numbers.

Join the club and build skills in your nature journaling toolbox, hang out with fellow nature journalers and even participate in citizen science! No previous skill or experience is required! Leaf on a clip

What do I Bring?

Something to record with (Pencil, pen, markers, paints) and something to record on (paper, notebook or sketchbook). Participants are encouraged to bring their own journals and preferred journaling supplies. 

Oxbow Meadows will provide basic journaling materials such as clip boards, paper, pencils and any activity related materials for use during club times. (Supplies will be limited according to pre-registration)

Tools are welcome (binoculars, magnifying glasses, rulers, etc)

Meetings are outside depending on weather conditions you may want: 

  • Sunscreen
  • Bug Spray
  • Close-toed Shoes
  • A Picnic Blanket
  • A Folding Chair (seating is not guaranteed)
  • Water Bottle
  • Snack

December 14th, 2024 at 9-10:30am (Birding Hike included)
